Hello!
Preface: Although this was my journey (below), I'm equally excited and passionate about supporting women in whatever way they choose to give birth - whether that's at home, at a birth center, or in the hospital. There is no one "right" way to birth your baby. And there are no "awards" for the way we birth. My biggest goal is to help empower, educate, and support moms to have the pregnancy, birth, and postpartum of THEIR dreams. Please read the below story and understand that this is simply how I experienced birth, yet I am fully prepared and excited to support you on your own unique journey!
My Story
My story is somewhat unique in that I've delivered in both the hospital and home birth settings; all ending with vaginal births. However, after my experience in the hospital with my first, I left feeling extremely disappointed about how I was treated, and the coercion that happened to both my baby and I. I truly wasn't prepared for that birth and had an approach of "we'll see how it goes," which led to a cascade of interventions that left me feeling upset, confused, and completely depressed.

Fast forward four years and two additional babies later, I've had two redemptive home births with the most amazing birth teams, and will live to tell the story of how utterly different my birthing experiences were (hospital vs. home). Both home births couldn't have gone any better, which I'm very thankful to God for. I'd be remiss not to mention the difference in labor time between my first and my second and third births.

My first birth was a standard 20+ hour birth experience, which slowed down greatly after I took the epidural. My second birth (first birth at home) was maybe ~2 hours total, and my third birth was even quicker at ~90 minutes of active labor to meeting baby in my arms. I know, WILD, right?!

Some people say "you're so blessed with quick labors," but the truth is that my preparation, birth team, and birth environment were the three biggest reasons why my second and third births were so magical and swift. The difference was more than just "genetics," it was the effort I spent in preparing and educating myself before those births that was the key differentiator.

All these experiences were so life-changing for me that it's a deep passion of mine to help other moms navigate the complexities of pregnancy, birth and postpartum. My greatest mission is to help educate and empower moms with evidence-based information so that they too, can have the birth and postpartum experiences of their wildest dreams!
